This news has disappointed many subscribers enjoying their favourite HBO content on Disney+Hotstar. The decision to end the deal has been made due to the ongoing changes in the media and entertainment industry, with both companies focusing on different strategies to stay ahead. This comes just days after Disney Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bob Iger said the company would cut $5.5 billion in costs, including $3 billion in non-sports related content. The OTT platform recently announced that it would end its partnership with HBO, which means several popular shows will no longer be available post-March 31st. 10.If you’re a fan of HBO content, you may be aware that some of the network’s most popular shows, like the Game of Thrones, Last of Us, Ballers, and more, are about to leave Disney+Hotstar. The magic realism-laced show might not exactly be bingeable–it runs a bit intense–but it does make for a gripping journey. In the universe of the show the historic network is a legitimate railroad replete with infrastructure and crew. The Underground Railroad – Amazon Prime VideoĪ fantasy historical drama that tackles the layered subject of slavery, The Underground Railroad is a powerful 10-part watch. It plays beautiful backdrop to the designer’s own journey, zipping through substance abuse, partying, drama and sex, but it really is the star du spectacle. The five episode miniseries is rich with colour and dripping with period-perfect outfits, creating a sumptuous visual language that is an absolute treat for anyone that truly loves fashion. The retelling of the American designer’s tempestuous journey is wildly aesthetic although it could have been better told. It also goes down easy–you’ll find yourself finishing the series in a week. The very understandable white-washing outcry aside, this eight-parter about the life and crimes of Charles Sobhraj (a French serial killer of Indian and Vietnamese descent) as he slices and steals his way through Thailand is enthralling. You’ll find yourself hazarding guesses and plotting theories throughout. Controversial ending aside, this six-parter will definitely have you hooked from the word go. Zeroing in on three core characters–single mother Louise, her boss (and man she hooks up with at a bar) David, and his incredibly strange, beautiful wife Adele. Behind Her Eyes – NetflixĪ British miniseries worth clearing your Sunday for, Behind Her Eyes is the kind of psychological thriller that knows how to throw a curveball. Kelley (Doogie Howser, M.D., Ally McBeal, Boston Legal, Big Little Lies), the rich cast features Nicole Kidman at the elusive owner of a wellness resort called Tranquillum House, and Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans and Regina Hall (amongst others) as its guests. Nine Perfect Strangers – Amazon Prime Videoīased on the novel of the same name by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty, this Hulu original has star power both in terms of actors and directors. An interesting look at social media’s role in conflict. Set against the backdrop of Indo-Pak conflict, a love story beyond borders emerges between Sara Sher Ali from Pakistan and Vishaal Malhotra from India caught in social media crossfire as their fathers die at war with each other. While the Pakistani drama web series might be a little intense for somebody looking for an easy watch, it’ll be right up your street if you’re down for a little political drama. The pressures, the expectations, the mental health issues and the high suicide rate of the engineer culture in India are explored through a neutral but strong-voiced lens–an absolute must-watch Engineer-turned-comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath also makes and appearance. This short but powerful series explores the lives of students at the oldest of the Indian Institutes of Technology, IIT Kharagpur. Alma Matters: Inside the IIT Dream – Netflix The only downside is you’ll be devastated when it’s all gone. A brilliant satire of white privilege with amazing acting moments, especially by Jennifer Coolidge, Murray Bartlett, Steve Zahn and Connie Britton. Oh, that there were more of this fantastic six-part show! With a cast more studded with stars than a holiday-themed romcom, the show watches a series of guests (and some staff) as they step into the idyllic White Lotus, a premium resort in Hawaii. Having sired many a Clubhouse room (and, naturally, an SNL spoof), the show follows single grandmother slash police detective Mare Sheehan as she uncovers the minds behind a murder and a slew of kidnappings. It’s tough to choose a magnum opus when it comes to Kate Winslet’s gargantuan body of Oscar-worthy work, but it’s fair to say this HBO series comes close.
